What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the application of 100% pure, natural and authentic Essential Oils with the purpose to enhance our health. Aromatherapy with it's 100's of raw materials as well as 1000's of blending options can assist with many medical problems as well as enhance our general well being & lifestyle.

How & why does Aromatherapy work?
Aromatherapy is the application of medicinal quality plant essences to the body. The molecules from Essential Oils get absorbed into the body in 3 different ways. 1- they penetrate the skin & enter the bloodstream when applied in massage or a bathetic. 2- smell is directly analyzed by receptors in the brain.
3 when we inhale Essential oils they are absorbed into the bloodstream via the lungs & membranes.
Residues of Essential Oil molecules can be measured in the bloodstream for several days after application, e.g. for 3 days after an aromatic bath. -
Where do your oils come from?
When we first started Absolute Essential in 1988 we personally visited with many of our suppliers and hand picked the best producers to provide us with our essential oils, which originate from approximately 50 different countries around the world. Please see our website for detailed information on which country each essential oil originates from. The country of origin is of utmost importance. It is a little bit like with wine, where would you rather purchase a bottle of red wine from, France or Thailand?

Are all Aromatherapy products the same?
Definitely not. In fact, Absolute Essential is one of the few companies in the world who pride themselves in supplying genuine quality Essential Oils produced for medicinal purposes. Most companies purchase the Essential Oil that was initially produced for the fragrant and toiletry market e.g. Lemon scent in toilet cleaners are being sold as Aromatherapy Oils. There is a big difference in the quality when originally distilled for a medicinal purpose.

How do I know your products are better quality than your competitors?
There are several ways
1. Look at what the company does, - packaging, product selection & what they are committed to - reputation.
2. Examine their product presentation, what care has been taken with the packaging, droppers, and colour glass etc.
3. Who is behind the company and what do they know about their products.
4. Trust their reputation; ask a friend who might know them.
5. Satisfy yourself and support people who are genuinely passionate about giving you the best possible product, as those people are far & few between.You could also look out for
Packaging: assure essential oils & aromatic synergies are packaged in a box & dark glass, it protects from light damage, droppers in the bottles assure safety of measure, suppliers indicate common name, latin name, plant part, distillation & growing methods, country of origin on packaging.Check if the supplier has an informative website & is willing to assist your needs & answer your questions.

Who designs and researches your Aromatherapy blends & creams?
Dr Bo Hendgen D.O N.D., the director is a qualified Aromatherapist/Osteopath/Naturopath. Founding Absolute Essential in 1988, her teaching and research work in natural health care and Aromatherapy is widely known and professionally acknowledged.

Are Absolute Essential Products free of Genetic Engineering?
Yes, we are proud to certify that all our products are free from Genetic Engineering, and 80% of our raw materials are organic. We pride ourselves on providing this additional quality to our customers, as we believe it is essential.

Can I increase the lifespan of Aromatherapy products?
Yes you can, if not used keep them in the fridge, this is a dark cool space; will keep them for a very long time.
You can also assure their continuous quality by keeping your lids closed well at all times, keep them away from direct sunlight, & fluctuating temperatures, keep them in the box supplied etc. -
What is the main guarantee that Absolute Essential can give regarding the safety¯ of their products?
Absolute Essential is committed to supplying the highest standard of medicinal Aromatherapy products. We take care to choose the best selection of raw materials, over storage, manufacturing, right down to the application of our products.
So if used as indicated the product should be safe, effective & enjoyable. -
I have heard that if I do not like the smell I should not use it, as it is not the right oil for me. Is this true?
Yes and No. Scent is very difficult to hide when we dislike it. It is the art of blending which an Aromatherapist can help you with to disguise scent you don't appreciate, but which might be good for you, with scent you really like to make the blend beneficial for you.

After how much time will I see an improvement?
Most people notice a change within 1-2 hours, some react immediately for first aid applications e.g. headache, sore tummy etc. Of course products applied for e.g. skin conditions will take much longer for a change to be appreciated.

When do I know I can stop using Aromatherapy products?
When symptoms ease, it is good to reduce the use slowly.

Can I overdose on Aromatherapy?
One can sadly have too much even of the finest things, so yes you can. Use as directed & apply your common sense, this way Aromatherapy will only be beneficial.

Are Essential Oils safe in Pregnancy?
We have especially researched this question carefully.
We only recommend medicinal quality Aromatherapy products to be used during pregnancy & on babies & children. During this very special time we are responsible for another, new life, so special care needs to be taken.Dr Bo Hendgen is a registered Osteopath / Naturopath / Aromatherapist & has been working with pregnant mums & babies in her clinic, in her capacity as an Osteopath/Naturopath for over 13 years. All products recommended have been well researched; this recommendation may differ from what you find in books or other sources. All we can do is assure you that we have made our selection with utmost care, considering your safety carefully.
All products which we recommend to be safe during pregnancy & for babies are marked with an * asterisks in our brochures, on our labels and on our website. Our recommendation is to use 1/2 the dosage recommended for normal application of all none specifically blended pregnancy products (e.g. Stretchmark Oil).
Specially designed products like Stretchmark oil may be used as directed. -
Are there any Essential Oils that pregnant woman should definitely avoid at any time?
Yes there are, however the list is too long to copy here. Please just stick to our recommendation of products and use 1/2 the dosage recommended for normal application of all none specifically blended pregnancy products (e.g. Stretchmark Oil).

Should the oils be administrated by a professional therapist?
Aromatherapy may be enjoyed and administered by yourself to enhance life and your general well being as recommended but should you experience more serious complaints consult a health professional or registered Aromatherapist.

What is the best product to alleviate stress and tension during pregnancy?
A massage with our Pregnancy Body Balm is soothing and alleviates stress and tension. You may also diffuse one of our designer synergies. e.g. Harmony.

What if I had complications in a previous pregnancy?
My suggestion is to be extra careful during the initial 3 months. You may be better in receiving treatments with a qualified Aromatherapist.

At what age can I start using your baby AromaCare selection?
You can start the products from around 3 weeks, dilute them by 50%.

Order Processing within New Zealand
All New Zealand orders are dispatched within 1-2 working days, if products happen to be out of stock we contact you to discuss. All orders are provided to you under the Absolute Essential Ltd “Terms & Conditions” of sale as shown on the reverse of your invoice.

Delivery Times within New Zealand
All New Zealand orders should arrive at their destination within 5 working days of placing your order and making payment when relevant. Please contact us immediately if your order is not received within 7 days. Our deliveries require a signature, therefore a calling card may be left if no-one is available at delivery address given.

Shipping Charges
All orders shipped within New Zealand will occur a $8.00 plus GST packaging & delivery charge. Rural deliveries will incur an additional charge of $3.00 plus GST.

Bulk Pricing
Bulk prices for larger quantities of one product are individually given & the quote may be valid for 7 days. Returns & Exchange
Absolute Essential Ltd will, at their discretion, replace or give credit for all goods sold which are established to contain a manufacturing defect, if the following conditions are met:
• Claims must be received or dispatched to Absolute Essential Ltd within 7 days of receipt by the customer.
• The invoice number must be quoted.
• Claims must specifically identify the manufacturing defect.
• A credit will be issued once goods are received back into the warehouse.

A personal consultation is available with our Director, Dr Bo Hendgen, Registered Osteopath & Naturopath at a fee of $50.00 per half hour & $95.00 per hour. Personalised Consultancy, if you cannot make it into Bo’s clinic e-mail consultations are available. You may add the consultation product code to your order & describe the nature of your complaint in the message section. Dr Bo Hendgen will respond personally within 48 hours with product recommendations & application methods, recipes or blends, whatever your request may relate to. The cost of an email consultation is $95.00.
